HOW ARE THE PUPPIES RAISED?
All of our puppies are raised with Puppy Culture and AviDog science-based whelping/rearing protocols. We strongly believe in the benefits of both early neurological stimulation (ENS) and early scent introduction (ESI), and implement both with every puppy we produce.
Some of the things we do with our litters:
- Noise desensitization
- Tactile desensitization (walking on novel surfaces like tarps, unstable surfaces, etc)
- Grooming desensitization (posting ears, nail trims, baths, etc)
- Introduction to swimming
- Bite imprinting
- Prey drive drills
- Free stacking

health testing
We firmly believe in setting our puppies up for the best possible future, and this includes ensuring they are foundationally sound! We health test ALL of the dogs in our program before they are ever bred.
Every dog in our program has hips and elbows tested by either OFA, PennHIP, or both; alongside an OFA dentition report. Please reach out to us for results. The Presa Canario breed does not currently have a required list of health tests in OFA– therefore our dogs are ineligible to be issued CHIC numbers. As the breed progresses, we will continue to progress in our health testing.
The chart below can better help explain the differences between OFA and PennHIP testing, and why there is really no “superior” test. Both testing organizations are useful in their own regards and provide different types of information to our program.
